Milan, as an important metropolis economically and commercially
and also thanks
to its outstanding organizational flair, has always been an international
meeting point. On the same time, business and entertainment complement
each other perfectly here. First class hospitality and a nice
atmosphere is to be found in the comfort of hotels and trattorias.
For the most demanding palates, Milan offers a vast range of high-quality
restaurants, where the traditional cuisine and top gastronomic
creations can be tasted.
Speaking
of business, though, this sometimes make people forget the historical
aspect of Milan with its architecture, art and music.
The Dome is Milans monument of major importance,
as well as the biggest and most complex Gothic monument in Italy.
It was initiated in 1386. Next to the Dome lies the big Galleria
Vittorio Emanuele, that has been the meeting place of the
city, since it was constructed in 1877. A
walk through the Galleria, leads you to the square in front of
the famous opera house La Scala. From here you are just
a step away from Via Montenapoleone, where the great designers
have their boutiques in this the capital of fashion.
A
part from offering a bit of everything itself, Milan has another
great advantage, the nearness of everything. Mountains, lakes,
wine districts and interesting and charming minor
cities is all within one hours drive. Elegant gala
dinners find their perfect setting in elegant palazzos,
villas or castles.
For sport fans what couldbe more exciting then a soccer game
with one of the home clubs, Milan or Inter that tops the Italian
league, or Formula 1 at the nearby Monza track.
