Centuries of history and art have left a unique
inheritance to this beautiful city. The streets and squares, palazzos and churches in which medieval and renaissance
art harmoniously mix together are the remainings of a magnificent
past. Under the Medici Family the town gained great masterpieces
by the foremost artists of the time like Brunelleschi, Donatello,
Botticelli, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vincio and during the
Renaissance period Florence become the most important European
cultural centre. With one foot firmly planted in the past and
the other in the pulsing present, Florence is a truly remarkable
city.
Some
of the most important museums in Italy can be found in Florence,
including the Uffizi and the Palatine Gallery and Galleria dell'Accademia.
Michelangelo's David, one of the most frequently reproduced
statues in theworld, is located in Florence.
Florence is also the capital of one of Italy's most well known
and beautiful regions, Tuscany, that except art and history,
also is very much appreciated for its undulating green hills,
picturesque small medieval villages and wine districts where
some of Italy's most important wines are produced.
The beautiful surroundings, plenty of cultural events, the rich
art inheritance, good boutique shopping and plenty of nice restaurants
make Florence to one of Italy's most beautiful and attractive
destinations.
