The raising of Lazarus is the first work done by Caravaggio in Messina between 1608 and 1609. The painting was intended for the Church of the Fathers Crociferi commissioned by the wealthy Genoese merchant Giovanni Battista at Lazzari family. The canvas will be exposed for the first time ever in Rome at Palazzo Braschi.
